JUNE 2011 - E NEWS
This month we are delivering our newsletter in a slightly different format. We know that education is key and we have packed this months news FULL of hints, tips and advice for the “best WINTER you” possible … let us know what you think
WINTER IS THE TIME TO PERFECT YOUR PIGMENT CONCERNS!
If you’re prone to pigmentation (this is even more likely if you’re on the contraceptive pill) or using products containing vitamin A (retinol) you need to watch out for the sun as this ingredient makes you a lot more photosensitive; even low levels of sun can increase pigmentation. Use a minimum SPF 15 preferably an SPF 30 everyday if you can and look for one that protects from UVB, but especially UVA as these are the rays that cause skin damage. Also, look for creams which brighten the skin – visit one of our trained COVE SPA skincare experts if you are unsure as to which treatment and product would best suit your concern.
VITAMINS ….
During the winter months you may become lacking in Vitamin D.
A regular multi-vitamin just won’t cut it; according to the Academy of Dermatology we need 2000 units of vitamin D every day so opt for a specific supplement. It is thought vitamin D can help protect from certain cancers including breast and colon cancer, so it is important not to neglect it. Consult your naturopath or nearest health store specialist for the best option suited to your specific needs and consider your health conditions before taking.
WINTER SKIN …
The best way to tackle dry 'Winter' skin is to dispose of your loofah, they make lovely homes for germs! Rather use a dry body brush instead; which is much more effective as an exfoliant, as well as hygienic . It will also improve circulation and cellulite appearance.
Make sure you apply your body lotion/ oil within three minutes of getting out of the bath or shower as it locks in maximum moisture before water evaporates from your skin we recommend a high-quality, plant based oil. We think PEVONIA DRY BODY OIL is the ultimate in nourishment with its blend of high-grade essential oils, lavender and chamomile combined with plant oils like macadamia nut . Oil tends to mix with the skins’ own sebum and can penetrate more deeply than waxy body creams which can often sit on the surface of the skin. – its all about the products formulation.

BATH TIME BLISS
If the skin on your face is feeling tight and uncomfortable, here is the perfect relaxing fix. While running your bath, cleanse and exfoliate your skin and gently pat dry, apply a thick layer of your favourite mask to your face then step in the bath and relax – we recommend one of the Pevonia Face Masks - perfect for your skin packed full of potent botanicals ; The steam from the bath, combined with your mask will plump up your skin and soothe away any irritation. It’s the perfect “time-out” or pre-party prep treatment as it leaves your skin fresh plump and fabulous!
HOW TO APPLY YOUR MOISTURISER AND/OR NIGHT SERUM… this may sound like a ridiculous caption but you will be amazed at the difference the RIGHT application can make to the results your moisturizer will have on your skin …
One – Spread cream over your fingertips and pat onto the cheeks first where skin is often more dehydrated, then sweep remainder up to forehead, and t zone last. Place hands at base of neck and with a firm but gentle upward action work towards chin.
Two - Place fingertips on chin and gently sweep outwards along jawline to ears.
Three - Place fingertips at either side of nose and gently sweep outwards, along cheekbone to ears. Then return to base of nose and this time gently sweep upwards towards eyebrows, then along browbone to outer eye.
Four - With fingertips of each hand meeting at the centre of your forehead, sweep outwards towards temples.
Five - Gently press ring finger below inner eye, pat outwards and follow along the bone to outer eye, patting gently as you go.
Six - Using all your fingers, starting at your chin use a firm & fast, but gentle tapping action (like tapping a keyboard) all around the face, working upwards.
SLEEPING BEAUTY …
Skin is able to renew itself at night more effectively than in the day, so it’s important to always apply moisturiser before going to bed. Invest in silk pillowcases, as cotton absorbs moisture (and your night cream) from your face which is a waste of brilliant active ingredients.
We hope to have given you useful advice on how to really take care of yourself in the upcoming month and look forward to sharing more wonderful advice next time
We really look forward to seeing you in spa soon and pampering you
Take care
